Acrisure’s Sutton Winson bolstered by two new acquisitions

Date: Thursday 09 May 2024

Acrisure, a global fintech leader, has announced that its largest acquired UK company, Sutton Winson, has completed two acquisitions, further expanding its footprint in south-east England.

Most notably, they have announced the imminent acquisition of Financial and Credit Insurance Services Ltd (FinCred), with the deal expected to close in Q2 of this year. FinCred is a specialist credit insurance broker and surety bond expert. Based in Sevenoaks, Kent, but boasting a worldwide book of business, they will further enhance Acrisure and Sutton Winson’s collective capabilities across the United Kingdom. Hannah Lyon-Wall, Managing Director of Fincred, spent more than six years at Markel International prior to taking over the family-owned business in 2016.

Sutton Winson also purchased Global Broking Solutions (GBS) in a deal which saw them acquire a client base which spans across all parts of Kent and East Sussex. The strategic move compliments the acquisition of FinCred as Sutton Winson will soon have three established office locations in London, East Sussex and now Kent.

David Thomson, executive chairman, Sutton Winson, said: “We are thrilled with the acquisitions of FinCred and GBS, and this is the beginning of something special we are building in the south-east. Acrisure has made it clear they will continue to support us in acquiring businesses with whom we can culturally align. We now control close to £70mn GWP and expect that figure to surpass £100mn within the next two years through a combination of organic and inorganic growth.”

Lyon-Wall said: “My family and I have known Sutton Winson for years, and when we decided the time was right to sell and become part of a larger organisation, there was only one business we even considered partnering with. We are incredibly specialist in our field and know that Acrisure’s national presence will have a massively beneficial impact on our future growth trajectory.”

Mark McIlquham, president, Acrisure UK Retail, said: “Sutton Winson are making a statement of strategic intent with these acquisitions. As Acrisure’s biggest UK platform, they are in the ideal position to lead our expansion in Southern England, using their extensive relationships in the region to find companies who align with our values and strategy. Hannah is a proven leader with a phenomenal track record and a huge future in the industry. We are genuinely delighted to welcome her and the rest of the team onboard.”
