EEC’s Technical trainer can help you grow your emissions business by providing staff training to increase confidence and knowledge.
As the industry experts, EEC support their customers with technical advice, fitting assistance, data analysis, stock guidance and industry knowledge, to ensure they are providing the best solution for their clients and consumers.
EEC are committed to an education and training programme within the industry to help technicians understand, evaluate and diagnose emission problems
Stuart Still (EEC’s Technical trainer) has recently carried out an intensive 2-day training program held in support of a large distributor of EEC products. This took place at the head office of one of their largest garages networks, with the aim of dispelling the notion that aftermarket emission products are substandard in comparison with OE products. A debate often fought by aftermarket parts and component manufacturers.
8 sessions were held across two days, with 31 employees in attendance in total. The candidates represented each of the customer’s 17 locations with some travelling a fair distance to attend. The sessions were well received, and it was very clear that both the customer and EEC’s distributor were very much appreciative of the support given. A handful of candidates were eager to delve into a technical depth which was too great for the allocated time so a further workshop session may follow at a later date!
Each candidate left with a training certificate valid for 2 years which ensures they have the capability to identify some of the common misconceptions around aftermarket products as well as a better understanding of the importance of the role of Catalytic converters, DPFs and the exhaust system.
Our Emissions Training Programmes are executed by Highly Experienced Technical trainers, each candidate will develop further knowledge on the following topics.
EEC’s trainer will focus on the main functions of the exhaust system as well as covering engine performance and fuel consumption, and control sound reduction.
The catalytic converter is also a topic which is covered in EEC’s extensive training programme, candidates will be taught how each element of the Catalytic Converter works particularly focusing on the various Components of coating used
Another aspect covered is fault finding using a 4-gas analyser. One of the most important diagnostic tools in the engine repair sector is the 4-gas analyser, although it is essential tool to carry out a pre NCT emissions test, it is rarely used as a diagnostic tool.
EEC trainers are often surprised how little information is retrieved by the technician after completing an emissions test using the 4-gas analyser.
EEC also covers an Introduction to DPF’s.
Ever increasing EU legislation means that a larger number of vehicles need to be fitted with diesel particulate filters in the exhaust system.
Important information relating to DPF functionality, fitting and fault diagnosis is included, as well as explaining that a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is a service item and will need to be replaced at the end of its life. This will vary by vehicle manufacturer and the how the vehicle is maintained.
Type approval
Due to the emergence of the European emission control guidelines (Euro I, II, III, IV, V and the recent Euro VI) the exhaust system and all its elements have become more important than ever due to their direct impact on the engine’s emissions.
EEC will continue to develop and evolve our Training programmes to meet with ongoing trends and developments relating to the automotive industry,
Whether you are an existing customer of EEC or not, we would be delighted to discuss providing a training programme for your staff and customers.
