The Exol-sponsored Toyota Pattaya 1998 racing team has defended its Super NZ class title in the 2024 Super Endurance 1500 (25 hours) at Chang International Circuit, Thailand.
Formed by Exol’s Thailand distributor, Shinsiri, the team competed in the gruelling Super Endurance 1500 race from 21st to 22nd December 2024. Despite facing significant setbacks, the team demonstrated exceptional perseverance in one of the most demanding endurance races in motorsport.
Competing with two cars, the Exol-backed team showed moments of brilliance, but motor racing’s inherent unpredictability tested their resolve. Its No. 398 car – Division 3 1500cc Turbo – set a promising tone by securing pole position in qualifying. However, during the night stint, the car caught fire, necessitating significant repairs. Although the team managed to return to the track, the damage hindered their ability to reclaim the second position they held before the incident.
The team’s second car, No. 8 – Super NZ Class – had a strong start and a consistent run in the top three, but the team faced a heavy crash during the night, spinning off and hitting the barrier. In a testament to their determination, the team spent two hours repairing the car and rejoined the race, ultimately finishing in fifth place after 25 demanding hours.
Kobchai Chinthamraks, owner of Shinsiri and exclusive distributor of Exol Lubricants in Thailand, commented: “While the results were disappointing, this is motorsport – you win some, you lose some. I’m proud of the team’s resilience and their ability to push through. Using Exol, we were able to meet the demands of this extreme endurance environment, proving the reliability of its products even under such challenging conditions.”
Exol’s Optima Sport 10W-60 played a critical role in supporting the Exol Toyota Pattaya 1998 racing team throughout the 25-hour event. Its high-performance lubricants are designed to deliver enhanced protection and durability, even under the immense stresses of motorsport.
Paul Eastwood, Export Sales Manager at Exol Lubricants, added: “The endurance and determination displayed by Shinsiri and the whole Exol Toyota Pattaya 1998 team embody the spirit of motor racing. Even with the setbacks, their drive to continue and perform is commendable. These events also reaffirm the performance and quality of Exol’s lubricants in the toughest conditions. Congratulations to the whole team for their effort and commitment.”
