GS Yuasa awarded Gold rating in Japan’s PRIDE Index 2025 for LGBTQ+ workplace initiatives

Monday 9 Mar 2026

GS Yuasa Corporation has been awarded the top-tier Gold rating in the PRIDE Index 2025, Japan’s leading benchmark for LGBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace. This marks the first time the company has achieved the highest evaluation in the index, which is administered by the not-for-profit organisation work with Pride and assesses corporate initiatives across five key areas: policy, representation, inspiration, development, and engagement.

The achievement reflects GS Yuasa’s commitment to creating an environment where all employees can develop, contribute and thrive. As part of its corporate philosophy of Innovation and Growth, the company places particular emphasis on developing self-reliant individuals and encouraging the acceptance and respect of diversity, recognising these as essential drivers of long-term organisational success.

Over the past year, GS Yuasa has expanded its initiatives supporting LGBTQ+ colleagues in Japan. These include group-wide video training for all employees, specialist training for HR and recruitment teams, confidential consultation services for LGBTQ+ employees and allies, and the introduction of revised employment regulations designed to strengthen inclusion and ensure equitable treatment. This comprehensive approach contributed to the company’s elevation to Gold status.

The award sits alongside the efforts being made across GS Yuasa’s global operations — including here in Europe — to promote inclusive workplaces where colleagues feel valued and able to contribute authentically. At GS Yuasa Battery Europe Ltd, initiatives such as employee development programmes, health and wellbeing support, and locally driven diversity actions echo the spirit of the group’s work in Japan. Diversity continues to play a central role in strengthening the company’s culture, enhancing collaboration and supporting innovation across our European teams.
