GSF are pleased to share that racing driver Lewis Turkington proudly raced alongside his four-time BTCC champion father Colin Turkington at Donington Park this weekend.
Inspired by his father’s motorsport career, 17-year-old Lewis began his own racing journey just a few years ago, starting out on the grass ovals before progressing into junior circuit racing, with the ambition of carrying on the family legacy. The 750 Motor Club meeting at Donington Park marked the first-time father and son shared a circuit as fellow competitors.
In race one, Lewis finished third in his class, racing the BMW 325ti, marking an incredibly strong entry into a brand-new car and set of regulations. Lewis shone in the dry-to-wet race moving up from third to take the class lead in incredibly tricky conditions. It was only on the last lap as the circuit transitioned back to nearly dry conditions again that he lost the lead, crossing the line in a very commendable 3rd place finish.
This coming weekend, Lewis will take part in the Birkett six-hour endurance race at Silverstone to prepare for the 2027 season. Lewis will compete in a three-driver BMW 325ti team, completing two of the six hours, his first effort at an endurance race.
Having raced with GSF backing throughout the 2026 season, Lewis once again carried the distinctive ‘Do Yourself Proud’ branding for this landmark appearance.
Before the weekend, Lewis’ most recent success came with a stunning second-place finish at Silverstone last month. The result underlined his potential as a serious contender with exciting prospects ahead, representing a memorable high point on which to close out the season.
Lewis Turkington said: “I was fully focused on making the most of this opportunity and was a fantastic experience. Racing and sharing the grid with my Dad this weekend was something special.
“The Donington Park event was a one-off event for us and the format has helped help me prepare for what’s to come next year. Thank you to GSF for their continued support, I’ll keep pushing hard to make myself, the team and my sponsors proud.”
