Becker is back with a bang

Speedway star Luke Becker, who is backed by the NGK brand, has made a dream comeback to racing by successfully making it through to the GP Challenge.

The American has been out of action since the beginning of April with a broken fibula but at the weekend rode superbly in Slovakia on the same track on which he sustained his injury, winning three of his programmed rides on his way to 12 points, tieing with Frederik Jakobsen and NGK stablemate Robert Lambert.

With Martin Vaculik and Szymon Wozniak already through, Becker, Jakobsen and Lambert were involved in a three man run-off with two places up for grabs and Becker, who rides for NGK-sponsored Wolverhampton Wolves, came out on top.

The Grand Prix Challenge will take place in Sweden on August 19 when the top three riders will be the first to qualify for the 2024 Speedway GP series.

John Money, who handles Speedway sponsorship on behalf of NGK-brand owner Niterra UK Ltd, said:

“It was a fantastic effort by Luke on his return to racing after his early season injury. We wish him every success for the rest of the season.”

NGK is backing four riders in this year’s World GP series; Freddie Lindgren is in second place, Lambert is in fifth position, Tai Woffinden is sixth, and Dan Bewley eighth, as the championship returns with the Prague FIM Speedway GP of Czech Republic on June 3.
