Bevan Group emerges stronger with help from recruitment specialist

Leading commercial vehicle body builder, Bevan Group, is entering 2021 in a much stronger position following an unprecedented year, thanks to the help of specialist automotive and engineering recruiter Glen Callum Associates (GCA).

Bevan Group offers a range of services including manufacturing of vehicle bodies, graphics, aftercare, specialist products and emergency roadside assistance to name but a few.

With more than 300 employees at its 17,000 sqft factory and head office in the West Midlands including 40 within its Aftercare response team, the company took the opportunity to restructure during the coronavirus pandemic and according to group director Anthony Bevan, “we were able to change structure and have emerged much more focused.”

Part of this refocussing was the requirement for a new member of staff in the business critical area of purchasing, supply and logistics.

“I had a perception of recruitment companies from previous experiences and it was not all that positive. But, from the moment we engaged with GCA, we knew we’d made the right decision to work with a specialist recruiter who knew a lot about our industry, business and specifically our requirements.
“GCA took all the hard work and hassle away associated with recruiting,” added Anthony, “and it was evident early on to us that we needed the GCA team heavily involved in every stage of the process.”

The hassle Anthony refers to is the management of CVs and enquiries and also physical interviews, all of which were overcome through GCA’s socially distanced zoom interviews.

Glen Shepherd, GCA director explains:

“As a specialist recruiter, we’ve been able to bring forward a number of initiatives for clients including recorded candidate video interviews and impartial candidate profiling, all of which makes it easier for businesses to recruit.
“Going forward we’re bringing even more specialist services to clients to ensure companies have as much information as possible to make the correct hire.”

Glen was also involved in the interview process for the Bevan Group and was able to put both candidate and employer at ease, outlining the process and therefore freeing up valuable time for those involved.

Anthony explains:

“As we aim to be more efficient, it is essential we continue our work with GCA both in the recruitment of key roles within the business, but also as a ‘talent spotter’ as we look to continually improve and innovate in the months and years ahead."
