Comline Richardson Racing celebrates Brands Hatch success

Date: Thursday 19 May 2022

Comline Richardson Racing and title partner Comline Auto Parts (Comline) are celebrating a maiden Porsche Carrera Cup GB victory after a sensational drive by Will Martin in the opening race at Brands Hatch this past weekend.

Comline Richardson Racing was looking to build on its performance from the opening event of the season at Donington Park, where both Will and team-mate, Jack Bartholomew, had to settle for a top-10 finish apiece during rounds one and two, and did so in exceptional style with both drivers finding their way onto the winner’s podium.

The pace in the Comline-liveried cars was evident from the opening laps of the weekend, with Will in particular challenging at the top of the timesheets. By the time Saturday qualifying rolled around, Will improved his already stellar pace by another half second to put the #10 Comline Richardson Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup on pole.

The opening race of the weekend’s double-header was full of drama; Will was in complete control, cruising to victory, before heavy rain intervened, and the race was prematurely halted. With wet tyres on, the race resumed but was reduced to a five-minute sprint, during which Will held his nerve and fought off his challengers to take the chequered flag and earn a first win for Comline Richardson Racing.

Jack, meanwhile, took advantage of the slippery conditions and made up a position to finish fourth on track – his best result of the season so far. Jack’s day got even better, as a penalty for fellow racer, Matthew Graham, saw him promoted to a podium place in third overall.

Race two of the Brands Hatch weekend saw the rain intensify further, and although Will couldn’t quite secure back-to-back victories, he did record a second-place finish to take his place on the podium once again. Jack completed his weekend by placing eighth, a creditable performance in just his fourth competitive start in the series, and in such challenging conditions.

Comline General Manager – Marketing & Communications, Leigh Davies, said:

“The weekend was a phenomenal success for the Comline Richardson Racing Team and for the Comline brand as a whole. Watching these two talented young drivers battle it out for honours in their Comline-branded race cars was both enthralling and nerve-racking in equal measure.
“It was these moments that we were hoping to experience when we sealed our partnership with Richardson Racing, but seeing Will Martin on the top step of the podium with the winner’s trophy and the Comline logo emblazoned on his chest, was an incredible moment for everyone connected with our brand.”

Commenting on the weekend’s events Will Martin said:

“We had a different mindset coming here, and we worked hard to put things right after Donington Park. We were quick in practice, put the car on pole and then won race one, so it was a perfect start, and then P2 in the final race was a great way to end what has been one of our best-ever weekends.
“I’m thrilled for Comline too; to know Jack and I have Comline’s support gives us an extra tenth of a second in the car, as that dedication gives us confidence to go out and do what we do best – win races!”

Comline Richardson Racing now heads to Oulton Park in early June, sitting top of the Entrants’ Championship as it stands. Undoubtedly, Will and Jack will be hungry for further success. To keep up with the team’s progress throughout the season, check out Comline’s and the team’s social channels:
