Delphi Technologies’ latest video highlights evolution of first-to market brake parts

Date: Monday 05 September 2022

Delphi Technologies’ latest video contains unique insights into its brake product evolution. The two-minute video neatly illustrates how Delphi Technologies is able to offer first-to-market brake discs and pads for the newest makes and models.

Stopping safely and in a controlled manner is the most important aspect of road safety, and Delphi Technologies’ near-100 years’ experience gives the customer peace of mind for a critical safety component. Delphi Technologies’ catalogue provides brake pad coverage for 99.5% of the European car parc, more than any other competitor.

Delphi Technologies’ brake pads are manufactured in five carefully crafted layers. Firstly, the anti-rattle shims match or exceed OEM quality for quiet braking. The back plate is pressed from high-strength steel, then powder coated for longevity.

Above the back plate, a 3mm under-layer absorbs noise and provides extra strength, while the friction material itself is chosen from 20 unique compounds engineered for specific environments. Finally, the pad surfacing and slots are OEM-configured for optimal bedding-in process after fitting.

Delphi Technologies’ brake discs feature a unique GEOMET coating for long-term corrosion protection – ideal for high-performance applications where discs are ‘on show’ through larger rims. Independent testing has proven Delphi Technologies’ anti-corrosion strategy out-performs the competition.

Discs can be ventilated and cross-drilled, according to application. High-carbon steel is used, and all Delphi Technologies brake products are ECE R90(i) approved, for peace of mind. And even the environmental impact is carefully considered: recent innovations have saved 10 tonnes of plastic in brake pad packaging, in addition to a 23-tonne cardboard reduction in disc boxes.

Delphi Technologies’ product range also encompasses drums and shoes, and to stay ahead of the competition it has consistently delivered at least 25 first-to-market brake solutions every year. Recent additions to the range include brake pads and discs fitted to the very latest models of VW Golf, Fiat Ducato, Nissan Juke & Mercedes S-class.

The intuitive online catalogue takes the headache out of part sourcing, as all critical dimensions are listed so you can double-check compatibility for any application. The versatile part finder searches via vehicle make and model, part number or competitor cross-reference. See it in action here: http://delphicat.com/WebForms/frmDelphiHome.aspx

Julian Goulding, UK Marketing Manager, Delphi Technologies Aftermarket, said:

“We invest millions ensuring our products match or beat OEM parts, and we strive to be first to market to provide workshops with an affordable alternative to OEM brake parts.”

(i) ECE Regulation 90 is an ECE Regulation specifying design, construction, and performance requirements and test protocols for replacement brake linings for roadgoing motor vehicles and trailers. R90 ensures linings are tested for speed sensitivity and cold performance. Replacement brake pads and brake shoes are not permitted to deviate from the frictional characteristics of their original-equipment counterparts by more than 15%. In addition, R90 requires tamper-evident, sealed packaging for replacement brake linings.
