Diesel Technic Product Portrait: 2.14646 Dosing module, urea injection

Date: Wednesday 19 April 2023

As an important component of the exhaust gas cleaning system, which makes it possible for nitrogen oxide emissions to be reduced by up to 90%, the dosing module individually injects the water-urea mixture in compressed form into the exhaust system. The quantity that is injected depends on the engine speed and vehicle load.

Hints and tips:

Exhaust gas cleaning through SCR technology (selective catalytic reduction) reduces nitrogen oxide emissions. For this process, the reducing agent is injected into the exhaust tract. When this mixture is exposed to heat, ammonia is produced, which converts the nitrogen oxide emissions into nitrogen (N₂) and water (H₂O).

When the dosing module is replaced, all the associated hoses and cables must also be replaced. It is furthermore important to make sure that the cables and electrical plugs are clean and securely attached.
