DVSA Beat the Rush campaign update

Date: Wednesday 19 August 2020

DVSA launched its Beat the Rush campaign on 31 July to encourage motorists who received an MOT exemption until autumn to get their test done this August.

The campaign is going well and has gained national media coverage. DVSA has seen lots of garages using the toolkit to create messages for their social media accounts.

DVSA has now looked at its MOT data to see how demand for tests looks in specific areas.

Using data to Beat the Rush
The table below shows the expected increase in MOT for October and November as a percentage increase on normal demand. The DVSA has produced forecasts for October and November, broken down by postcode, to help understand how demand will vary by area. It is expected that demand will be higher throughout the country.

DVSA will continue to share the data with the IAAF to help members plan for this challenging time.

DVSA has also made some changes to the campaign toolkit, which can be downloaded using the links below.

They have added new images featuring a motorcycle, and new social media posts which include #beattherush more prominently.

You can read more about the campaign and download the updated toolkit and materials on the Matters of Testing blog: https://mattersoftesting.blog.gov.uk/beat-the-rush-mot-campaign/

The campaign will continue throughout August.

If you have any questions on the content of the toolkit and how best to use it you can contact DVSA at: beattherush@dvsa.gov.uk
