FAI MD Jonathan Alexander thanks aftermarket for its support following accident

Date: Friday 06 August 2021

FAI Automotive managing director Jonathan Alexander has thanked the automotive aftermarket for its incredible show of support following his horrific motorcycle accident suffered on 22 July 2021.

Just 10 miles from home, Jonathan was riding his motorcycle when he was hit by a vehicle, causing severe lower leg injuries. Emergency services including air ambulance rushed to the scene and Jonathan was then transported by air to University Hospital Coventry, where he has undergone three major operations. Although currently recovering, Jonathan has made the extremely brave decision to have part of his lower leg amputated.

Next week, Jonathan expects to leave University Hospital Coventry where he will continue his recovery as an outpatient at Selly Oak Hospital Birmingham, which in recent years has been a centre of excellence for helping armed forces personnel injured in combat and is also a leader in the field of prosthetics.

Jonathan is married with three children. He told IAAF:

"The NHS has been amazing and I can’t thank them enough. I would also like to thank the automotive aftermarket for its support given to myself and my family in the past few weeks. Fellow suppliers, motor factors and many others have given me strength to work hard and bounceback from this – and I plan to do just that. I'm a workaholic and am set for an intense rehabilitation period. When I landed on the ground, I had three dreams, which were to live, to walk and then to ride a bike with the family.”

Jonathan can be contacted via his usual details so please do get in touch. Everyone at IAAF would like to wish Jonathan a speedy recovery and looks forward to seeing him again soon.
