Government's Covid Response: Autumn and Winter Plan 2021

Date: Thursday 16 September 2021

The Prime Minister has now set out the government’s plan to manage Covid throughout autumn and winter of 2021.

Ventilation is an important and effective mitigation to stop the spread of Covid, and businesses are advised to open windows, air vents and doors to let fresh air in, ensure that mechanical ventilation systems are set to maximise fresh air and minimise air recirculation, and to use outdoor space where practical.

People who have tested positive and their unvaccinated contacts will continue to be legally required to self-isolate. Financial support for those on certain benefits who are required to self-isolate will continue until the end of March.

Businesses should continue to check the safe working guidance for the latest updates.

Webinar: Keeping Communities Safe During Winter - Monday 20th September at 3pm
On Monday 20th September at 3.00 p.m., the Cabinet Office and NHS Test and Trace will be hosting a webinar which aims to ensure local business and community leaders have the most up-to-date information on Covid ahead of winter. The webinar will be an opportunity to hear updates on the latest guidance, vaccines, masks and ventilation, and testing.

Attendees will be able to ask questions and discuss ideas for effective engagement, and to inform the Government about challenges and experiences in local communities.

You can register online and submit questions in advance to community.resources@dhsc.gov.uk
