Last chance to vote in IAAF Pride of the Aftermarket Awards

Date: Thursday 19 November 2020

Voting in the IAAF 'Pride of the Aftermarket' awards closes at 5.00 p.m. today, so this is the last opportunity to cast your vote.

These awards have been introduced in order to reflect the impact that the pandemic has had on the people and the employment sector during 2020, the year that nobody predicted.

The categories include Outstanding Supplier, Outstanding Distributor, Outstanding Service Member, Outstanding Individual and Outstanding Innovation, and voting will close on 20th November, with the announcement of the winners taking place during the IAAF Virtual Conference on 3rd December.

The finalists are:

Outstanding Supplier during the COVID-19 crisis  Sponsored by E-Motive UK Online Ltd.
Klarius Products Ltd. Klarius worked directly with essential workers in the healthcare sector to ensure they received the parts they needed as fast as possible. The goal was to offer a flexible and capable logistics service to all customers during the period.
LIQUI-MOLY GmbH LIQUI MOLY took an innovative approach to the corona crisis; instead of implementing short-time work or layoffs, they instead paid a bonus of EUR 1,000 to each employee to thank them for their dedication.  They also provided a free additive pack to NHS staff in collaboration with selected garages.
Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket UK Ltd. Schaeffler distributed 2,000 free workshop essentials packs to help garages get ‘back on track’. The pack included a floor sticker and tape to mark out the reception and workshop area into two metre blocks to help maintain current social distancing rules, some personal PPE; a washable mask, hand sanitiser and hi-vis vest, along with prominent A2 posters and mirror hanging air fresheners to remind both staff and customers about the guidelines.
WAIglobal UK Ltd. Global automotive parts supplier WAIglobal UK, launched a workshop pack with STERI-7 products and PPE enabling garages to work safely. They also launched a retail pack (sending a free sample to all IAAF members) and teamed up with Bognor Motors to offer 100 emergency services workers and NHS staff a free vehicle disinfectant clean, using STERI-7.
   
Outstanding Distributor during the COVID-19 crisis  Sponsored by Clarios UK Ltd.
Alliance Automotive Group Ltd. AAG donated PPE packs to over 50 care homes in local communities utilising internal resources to procure a range of items including face masks, hand sanitiser, anti-bacterial wipes and gloves to support the most vulnerable.
Autoparts UK A team of 10 specialist parts people were put in place to assist blue light workers. Each identified the parts required, collected stock from branch and delivered it to the premises or made it available for collection. The group also supplied 10,000 disposable seat covers for use by NHS staff.
LKQ Euro Car Parts Ltd. LKQ ECP supported the AA’s partnership with the London Ambulance Service, supplying parts to keep NHS staff on the move during the coronavirus pandemic. Many branches donated personal protective equipment to the NHS.
T M Factors Ltd. TM Factors supported local food banks and assisted a number of charities. In addition, the business also organised a collaborative effort to help a front-line nurse at a local hospital, whose car had broken down and needed a new clutch, tyres, pads and discs.

Glen Callum Associates Ltd. GCA offered their recruiting services FOC directly to companies/organisations that desperately needed technical and engineering staff, to upscale manufacturing, distribution and supply of essential products directly to frontline NHS.
Lawgistics Lawgistics provided an almost daily stream of essential information and advice to businesses throughout the pandemic about topics such as furlough, Job Retention Scheme, holidays, SSP, to name but a few. They kept their helpline open throughout the crisis and also engaged in informative webinars to further support businesses.
PECUVi PECUVi announced that in order to support workshops across Europe, making their software available FOC on all Apple iOS devices. This was to enable Workshops to implement social distancing and conduct ‘contact-less’ servicing, whilst also enabling workshops to quickly react to website enquiries with a video presentation.

Hayley Pells, Avia Autos Hayley was very vocal on a number of topics during lockdown, including the automotive support group, and mental health in the aftermarket. She also stressed the importance of having a long-term plan in place to keep customers informed of all options to ensure their vehicles remained roadworthy during the pandemic.
Melissa Portman-Lewis, TM Factors Melissa, TM Factors director, raised over £2,100 for local food banks across Hereford, Leominster and Ledbury. Fund raising continued every week during the coronavirus pandemic and Melissa used the monies raised to purchase everyday goods to help families in need.
Richard Welland, WAIglobal UK IAAF vice-president and WAI managing director, Richard Welland, worked tirelessly introducing a number of innovative workshop solutions to ensure businesses in the automotive aftermarket were able to trade and operate safely during the coronavirus pandemic.

DFA Media Ltd. – using reader database to match resources with NHS manufacturers DFA Media, via their reader database, acted as a conduit to link manufacturers, engineers and the supply chain to ensure the essential resources and parts required were available to the NHS for the production of PPE.
E-Motive UK Online Ltd. – eBay NHS PPE portal The E-Motive platform that powers its ecommotors aftermarket ecommerce solution was behind the eBay initiative that provided the NHS PPE portal. By the beginning of July, 18.5m PPE items had been shipped to 21,000 health care providers. The portal has now scaled to 200 million PPE items per week capacity.
