Mintex-sponsored Brown signs off MINI Challenge career with double points finish

Mintex-sponsored MINI Challenge racing driver, Lewis Brown, completed his 2022 campaign with two solid race results at Brands Hatch, finishing his final season in the championship in 10th place overall.

Brands Hatch was a happy hunting ground for Lewis Brown, with the Kent circuit playing to his strengths in 2021, when Brown dominated the race weekend to deliver pole position followed by two race wins and two fastest laps.

Unfortunately, his 2022 end-of-season trip to Brands Hatch included some bad luck that has blighted his season; however, he did deliver some of the driving brilliance he has demonstrated aboard his Mintex-liveried MINI racing car throughout the year.

Brown qualified sixth on the grid for race one, which after a mechanical issue saw him slip to finish seventh overall, but once the technical gremlins had been resolved for race two, Brown was able to demonstrate his potential and take home a well-deserved fifth place overall.

Brown sustained damage to his car during the third race taking place on Sunday and retired with driveshaft failure, wrapping up his involvement in the MINI Challenge before moving to a new racing series in 2023.

Lewis Brown, MINI Challenge racing driver and Mintex brand ambassador, said:

“It wasn’t really the way I wanted to wrap up my campaign, but we did take two very solid finishes, and in the second race we were able to show what real pace we had in the car.

“It was unfortunate to end my MINI career with a DNF (did not finish) in race three but looking forward I’m really excited by what the future holds. It’s been a character-building year where we’ve suffered a degree of mechanical issues which have ultimately cost me decent results. Despite this I think it’s prepared me well for the next step which looks like an amazing opportunity,” Brown said.

The race weekend was the second visit to the legendary circuit at Brands Hatch, one of three UK circuits to have hosted a Formula One grand prix. The 2.4-mile Grand Prix layout at Brands Hatch challenges drivers with a considerably longer lap than the Indy circuit that the championship visited earlier in the year.
