NGK stars in the mix for World Speedway title

NGK-sponsored stars Freddie Lindgren and Emil Sayfutdinov have consolidated their places near the top of the race for the 2021 World Speedway Championship.

They lie in third and fourth places respectively in the standings after strong performances at the
first-ever Togliatti FIM Speedway Grand Prix in Russia which was won by home hero Artem Laguta.

Fellow Russian Sayfutdinov defeated Laguta in the first semi-final of the SGP, in which Lindgren finished third, but came fourth in the final, taking home 14 points with Lindgren scoring twelve.

John Money, who handles Speedway sponsorship on behalf of NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd, said:

“Emil and Freddie are in a rich vein of form and sit behind Laguta and current leader Bartosz Zmarzlik in the championship. I’m sure they will be fighting hard to clinch a place on the podium over the final three Grand Prix of the season.”

Ignition specialist NGK also sponsors SGP riders triple World champion Tai Woffinden, who is in the sixth position in the championship, Robert Lambert and Matej Zagar, with all the riders’ bikes being fitted with NGK spark plugs. The NGK logo is also featured on the riders’ boards and heat boards at each Grand Prix.

The next SGP will be held in Denmark on Saturday, September 11.
