OESAA proud of garage forum member following Top Garage final recognition

Date: Monday 24 October 2022

The Original Equipment Suppliers Aftermarket Association (OESAA) would like to congratulate its garage forum member, Tim Benson, after Oldfields Garage Services participated in Aftermarket’s Top Garage 2022 final.

Held at Delphi Technologies in Warwick, Oldfields competed in the ’10-plus employee’ category and was up against tough opposition in a competitive group of well-run and professional garages.

The lavish awards ceremony was the culmination of an intense process: it started with a multiple-choice survey-style form about industry matters, progressing to a scenario-based questionnaire at the semi-final stage, where Tim was faced with realistic situations in the workshop and was asked how he would approach them.

Progressing to the final, the final task was to present his business, its aims and objectives in just three minutes! He also spoke face-to-face with the judges, again, asked about industry matters and trends.

Unfortunately, despite impressing the judges, Oldfields, the smallest business in the category with 10 staff, narrowly missed out on the top prize.

While disappointed to be pipped to the post, Tim was proud of the workshop’s achievement and is committed and eager to go one better next year! He also praised all the finalists.

He said:

“I am delighted for our team to have reached the final and to be recognised as one of the five best garages of our size in the UK.
“To spend the evening with some of the best technicians and garages in the country gave us an opportunity to celebrate and learn. All the finalists should be proud and a huge congratulations to all the winners. We’ll take what we’ve learnt this year and see if we can go one step further next time!”

OESAA Chairman, Nigel Morgan, added:

“Tim is a fantastic contributor to our garage forum and organisation; he is someone who brings ideas and direction to our discussions and projects. It is no surprise, therefore, that he wowed the judges and Oldfields was recognised by fellow industry experts – well done, Tim, and everyone associated with the workshop!”
