Ring waves farewell to Managing Director

Date: Thursday 17 September 2020

After a dedicated 35 years of working at the company, and with 17 years as Managing Director, George Skalski has retired from his position at Ring.

George saw many changes throughout his time at Ring and not only played a key role in developing the company to be the leading UK aftermarket lighting brand, but also instigated the move in to new product categories, including tyre care, battery care and inspection lighting, where it has an award-winning reputation.

George now passes the baton on to the experienced, Theresa Spencer (pictured above), who was previously in the role of Financial Director. Theresa has been with Ring for four years and has carefully overseen the transition of the company from private ownership to the acquisition by OSRAM.

Theresa’s key focus will to be to support UK customers with Ring and OSRAM brands and continue to grow its market share through product innovation.

The new Managing Director will also play a part in supporting Ring’s parent company, OSRAM, as it progresses from focusing solely on lighting, to becoming a company that offers consumers a diverse range of automotive products.

An enthusiastic Theresa commented:

“I speak for everyone at the company as we wish George all the best in his retirement. He has been an extremely influential figure over the years and has left behind very big shoes to fill, but I’m delighted to be given this opportunity. In Ring I have a team of people who are passionate and dedicated, and I am looking forward to leading them through the many exciting opportunities that lie ahead.”

In a series of changes as the business continues to grow, Ring has also appointed a new Business Unit Director, Jeremy Rochfort, who will lead the UK Trade team, providing customers with the most relevant products and support services. He will also devise and implement the sales strategy to maximise profitable growth opportunities in the industry.

Jeremy brings 19 years of industry experience after working for Autoglass and its parent company, Belron, in various customer-facing and senior leadership positions.

For the past nine years, he was National Sales Manager, responsible for managing the commercial sales team and driving sales in the fleet, lease and commercial insurance sector, as well as being responsible for leading a team that successfully launched a new Total Calibration solution to the accident repair sector.

On his appointment, Jeremy said:

“After 19 years at Autoglass, I was ready for a fresh challenge, and the role at RING presented a fabulous opportunity to take my career to the next level and get involved in the ambitious plans to push the company forward under the established OSRAM brand.”
“I now look forward to working in this fast-paced and diverse role. The company affords the opportunity and flexibility to be creative and to implement strategic initiatives quickly, and the added value we deliver will help our aftermarket customers grow their businesses even further. Ultimately, I see RING as a solutions provider, not just a supplier of great products.”
