Sponsored Speedway stars ready for 2023 season

Date: Thursday 06 April 2023

Some of the World’s leading riders will once again be sporting the famous NGK logo when they compete in the 2023 FIM World Speedway Championship.

The ignition and sensor specialist – which this month changed its company name to Niterra UK Ltd – is a long-time supporter of the sport which celebrates its hundredth anniversary this year.

The company is backing some of the leading riders in this year’s World championship including three Britons, namely three-time World champion Tai Woffinden (32), former British and European champion Robert Lambert, who will be 25 tomorrow (April 5), and current British champion and 2022 British Grand Prix winner Dan Bewley (23), plus Sweden’s double World bronze medallist Freddie Lindgren (37).

Last season Lindgren finished in fourth place in the World championship, with Lambert in fifth position, Bewley sixth and Woffinden eighth.

Young Americans Luke Becker (24), currently out of action after breaking his leg, and Wilbur Hancock (17), the son of four-time World champion Greg Hancock, will also be supported by the NGK brand.

John Money, who handles Speedway sponsorship on behalf of Niterra UK Ltd, said:

“We are delighted to announce we will continue to support our four GP riders in this historic season. A century on from the first Speedway event in 1923, the sport is as exciting as ever with fans enjoying the thrill of watching the riders compete wheel-to-wheel on 500cc bikes with no brakes.”

The World championship, which gets underway in Croatia on April 29, will be televised on Eurosport 2.
