UK Garage and Bodyshop Event supports next generation with ‘SHOW MAKER’ initiative

Date: Monday 03 June 2024

The UK Garage and Bodyshop Event, taking place at the NEC, Birmingham 5th – 6th June, has announced its ‘SHOW MAKER’ initiative as part of its participation in School of Thought's ambassador programme, highlighting its commitment to supporting the next generation of automotive professionals.

As part of this initiative, the event will host ten enthusiastic work experience ‘SHOW MAKERS’ from Sandwell College.

These ‘SHOW MAKERs’ will be involved in a variety of tasks and roles throughout the event, providing them with invaluable hands-on experience and exposure to the industry's leading exhibitors.

Automotive professionals are encouraged to take time out to talk to the students and impart their wisdom, providing inspiration to go on and thrive in the industry.

Each ‘SHOW MAKER’ will receive a certificate of participation, a testament to their hard work and dedication, which they can proudly include on their CVs.

The ten students participating are Nicholas Bosompim, Ryan Bradshaw, Ebrima Ceesay, Mustafa Chowdhury, Connor Day, Marwan Hussein, Stephen Odiase, Callum Riley, Jasvir Singh, and Sahil Pal.

Alex Jones, marketing director of the UK Garage and Bodyshop Event, said: “A huge thanks to Sandwell College and School of Thought for giving these ten students the chance to participate in our event. The ‘SHOW MAKER’ initiative is a fantastic opportunity for these young individuals to gain real-world experience and insights into our industry. We're excited to see them in action and encourage everyone to say hi and make them feel welcome.”

Dave Reece, founder of School of Thought, added: “It's crucial to bring fresh, young talent into the automotive sector to help plug the skills gap we're currently facing.

“Initiatives like the ‘SHOW MAKER’ programme are essential for providing students with practical experience and inspiring them to pursue careers in this field. By supporting these young individuals, we're not only investing in their future but also in the future of our industry.”

The ‘SHOW MAKERS’ will be easily recognisable in their official ‘SHOW MAKER’ t-shirts, so the event organiser is encouraging attendees to greet them and offer their support as the students embark on this exciting learning journey.

The UK Garage and Bodyshop Event is committed to nurturing talent and providing opportunities for young professionals to thrive in the automotive industry. Through initiatives like the ‘SHOW MAKER’ programme, the event continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the sector.
