Update on Jonathan Alexander

Date: Friday 13 August 2021

IAAF eBulletin reported last week that FAI managing director Jonathan Alexander had been involved in a horrific motorbike accident on his way home. He has undergone three major operations and has had his lower leg amputated.

Encouragingly, Jonathan is now recovering at home and continues to receive excellent support and care from NHS, family, friends and colleagues in the automotive aftermarket.

While suffering a life changing injury, Jonathan believes it was the attendance of the Air Ambulance that helped him from suffering further complications.

He is now on a mission to fundraise for the Air Ambulance and has created a Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/jonathan-alexander2

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to The Air Ambulance Service, so it's the most efficient way to give - saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Donating through gift aid means charities can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give.

He said:

“The cost of each Air Ambulance mission is £3000 and I have started the page by covering this. Please be generous and give what you can, I very much appreciate the support.”

The Air Ambulance Service operates the local air ambulance services for Warwickshire & Northamptonshire and Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland as well as the national paediatric and neonatal transfer service, the Children’s Air Ambulance, covering the whole of the UK. The Air Ambulance Service does not receive funding from the government for its daily missions. It relies entirely on voluntary donations and support from communities to help keep it flying.
