WAI expands EV range with new launches

Date: Wednesday 12 April 2023

Leading rotating electrics supplier and electric vehicle (EV) charging cable specialist, WAI, has unveiled the latest products in its popular EV range, including a new three-phase EV charging cable and EV cable adaptors.

WAI has eliminated the need for garages and workshops to purchase a dedicated wall box for charging EV cables with its new three-phase EV charging cables, as they fit into existing wall sockets.

The WAI three-phase charging cable also means workshops can save space by not having to have a new wall box fitted and can be easily moved around so vehicles can be charged anywhere in a workshop, not just one area, to speed up jobs being completed and EVs returned to customers, fully charged.

WAI’s new three-phase EV cable is 5 meters long and is ICE, UL, TUV, UKCA and CE certified, IP55 rated and has copper alloy contacts, with operating temperatures from minus 30 degrees to plus 50 degrees. They are available in Type 2 female to CEE plug for popular vehicle makes and models including Audi, BMW, KIA, Mercedes, Mini, Nissan Leaf, Range Rover, Tesla, Toyota, Volvo and Volkswagen.

The brand has also launched new EV cable adaptors to easily convert existing cables from one type to another, allowing technicians the ability to work on more electric vehicles than ever before.

The EV adaptors range is available in 32 amp and 16 amp, Type 2 Female to Type 1 Male, Type 1 Female Type 2 Male, Type 1 Female to TESLA plug, plus Type 1 and Type 2 Male and Type 1 and Type 2 Female to Universal three pin plug, for the ultimate in versatility.

Richard Welland, managing director at WAI UK comments:

“We’re delighted to be launching our extended EV range to provide the opportunity for technicians to adapt their workshops for the future of mobility.”

Welland adds:

“We’ll be showcasing these latest products, along with the core WAI product portfolio at Automechanika Birmingham from 6 to 8 June. Come and see us on stand G50!”
