ZF [pro]Tech resumes face-to-face training at affordable rates for all UK garages

Date: Wednesday 30 June 2021

ZF Aftermarket has announced that under its ZF [pro]Tech initiative, face-to-face training has now resumed, supplemented by online courses. The ZF [pro]Tech concept was born of a genuine desire to support the independent aftermarket (IAM) in an age of advancing – and changing mobility. A firm believer in the importance of futureproofing the IAM through knowledge and training, the business made a decision long ago that this initiative would be about people, not profit. Training courses, including those for working with Electric Vehicles such as the company’s High Voltage Expert are available directly from ZF Aftermarket or at a discounted rate via ZF [pro]Tech start. A one-off affordable payment offers garages membership to this. The online personalised information hub allows access to ZF’s technical knowledge, together with all-makes, all systems OEM service campaign information, traditionally available only through main dealers at considerable cost.

Matt Shakespeare, UK Technical sales manager, ZF Aftermarket explains:

“We are extremely pleased to have resumed our face-to-face training. We were quick to move online to ensure the continued flow of knowledge, and many delegates successfully completed courses in this way. Yet in many cases, particularly where the course is of a practical, hands-on nature, there’s no better way to learn than face-to-face.”

Matt continues:

“All face-to-face training is undertaken at regional facilities across the UK. All are conducted according to the latest Government advice regarding safety and social distancing with a maximum of six delegates per session.”

Training courses can be purchased directly from ZF Aftermarket, or at a discounted rate by signing up to membership of ZF [pro]Tech start.

A one off affordable fee gives garages access to ZF [pro]Tech start: a personalised technical support & information hub. Membership includes: access to ZF’s technical knowledge, discounted training courses, including those designed for working with Electric Vehicles such as our High Voltage Expert and EIP courses and free access to OEM service campaign information across all systems, not just ZF. This operates via an on-line portal and technical helpline.

ZF firmly believes that to protect the integrity of the sector as a whole, and to ensure a safe working environment for those dealing with hybrid and electric vehicles, everyone working with these technologies should have easy and affordable access to it.

The latest SMMT data shows that EV sales represented 23 per cent of the new vehicle market in May but analysis by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) suggests that by the end of 2020 just 6.5 per cent of the automotive sector was EV ready. It marks just a 1.5 per cent increase on previous IMI analysis of the workforce and underlines what it describes as “the gaping chasm” in the proportion of the automotive sector skilled to work on electric vehicles.

The next available applicable course is the EIP theory which will take place on 1st September 2021 at the training facility in Harbury, followed by the practical course on 2nd September. For further details please contact the ZF [pro]Tech Team: protech.zf-aftermarket.uk@zf.com

Matt concludes:

“Membership to ZF [pro]Tech start gives garages a direct link into ZF’s technical world. Once garages are logged on to the ZF portal, using their own unique passwords and login details, they have access to a wealth of ZF technical know-how which arm their businesses with the skills and proficiencies required for the vehicles of today and tomorrow.”
