Potentially dangerous fake vehicle parts worth over £100,000 seized in South Gloucestershire operation

Friday 7 Nov 2025

Over £100,000 worth of fake vehicle parts seized from a South Gloucestershire self storage facility

In a successful joint operation, South Gloucestershire Trading Standards, the IPO and manufacturers have removed more than 3,600 counterfeit vehicle parts from a storage facility, including spark plugs, sensors and filters – components many drivers rely on during winter.

These fake parts have not undergone safety testing and are significantly more likely to fail than genuine parts.

Warning signs include:

  • Unusually low prices
  • Unfamiliar online suppliers
  • Poor quality packaging
  • Missing safety guidelines or incorrect serial numbers

As winter approaches and you check your vehicle, buy parts only from reputable suppliers and be cautious of unusually low prices or unfamiliar online sellers.
