About IAAF

The Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF) is the recognised trade body representing the UK’s automotive aftermarket. We support independent garages, motor factors and suppliers through advocacy, insight, events, and a strong member community—ensuring the independent aftermarket remains competitive, visible, and influential.

 

As we continue to grow our membership and deepen engagement across the sector, we are seeking a Membership Development Manager to help expand and strengthen our federation.

 

The Role

The Member Development Manager is responsible for recruiting new membersretaining existing ones, and building long-term relationships across independent garages, motor factors, suppliers and service providers.

 

This is a front-facing, relationship-driven role combining business development, account management, and industry engagement. You will be a visible ambassador for IAAF at events, meetings, and across the wider aftermarket.

 

The role can be full-time or part-time, depending on the candidate.

 

Key Responsibilities

Membership Growth & Recruitment

  • Proactively identify, approach and recruit new IAAF members across:
    • Independent garages
    • Motor factors
    • Suppliers and service providers
  • Clearly articulate the value of IAAF membership and tailor propositions to different business types
  • Manage the full membership sales journey, from initial contact to onboarding

Member Retention & Relationship Management

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with existing members
  • Act as a primary point of contact for member queries and engagement
  • Identify upsell, cross-sell and renewal opportunities
  • Gather member feedback and insights to help shape IAAF services and strategy

Events & Industry Engagement

  • Attend IAAF events, industry exhibitions, conferences and networking sessions
  • Support the delivery of IAAF events and member initiatives
  • Represent IAAF professionally within the wider automotive aftermarket
  • Build a strong personal network across the sector

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with the IAAF leadership and communications teams
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and report on:
    • New member acquisition
    • Retention
    • Pipeline activity
  • Contribute ideas for new membership initiatives, benefits and engagement strategies

About You

  • Proven experience in business development, membership sales, account management or partnerships
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own pipeline
  • Confident attending events and engaging senior decision-makers
  • Commercially minded, with a consultative approach rather than hard sales
  • Well organised, proactive and results-driven

Automotive aftermarket experience is highly desirable, but not essential for the right candidate with strong B2B relationship skills.

 

Travel & Working Pattern

  • UK-wide travel required (meetings, events, member visits)
  • Hybrid working with flexibility
  • Full-time or part-time considered (minimum 3 days per week for part-time)
