ZF Services UK has wrapped up a successful Seawork 2025, Europe’s leading commercial marine and workboat exhibition, where it showcased the latest in hybrid propulsion innovation and service support – underlining the company’s mission to deliver greener, smarter propulsion solutions for commercial vessels.
A major milestone at the show was the signing of a new collaboration agreement between ZF and world leading specialist aluminium shipbuilder Strategic Marine for the joint launch of the StratCat 27 crew transfer vessels. Designed specifically for offshore wind farm operations, these aluminium catamarans will carry up to 24 passengers and are powered by ZF’s cutting-edge hybrid propulsion system – including the new ZF 3250 V PTI gearbox designed specifically for the application, electric motor, automation and control systems, fixed pitch propellers and shaftline.
“This partnership with Strategic Marine reinforces our commitment to a greener future at sea,” said Thiru Moorthy, Head of Marine, Region Asia Pacific at ZF. “We’re proud to deliver the full hybrid propulsion package from our Marine Center of Competency in Singapore.”
Strategic Marine Executive Officer Eng Yew Chan added: “We are excited to be working with ZF on this next-generation CTV project. This partnership is a strong step forward in providing products with a lower carbon footprint and aligns with our long-term commitment to support the marine sector’s decarbonisation goals.”
Innovation on Display and Visitor Highlights
Held from 10–12 June at Mayflower Park in Southampton, ZF’s stand (E1) attracted vessel operators, designers and builders keen to engage with the company’s latest propulsion technologies. New to the exhibition the Holofan proved to be a fantastic way to visually display the range of ZF Marine gearboxes and thruster systems built for the toughest environments and applications, including ZF’s robust POD 4600 – a high-performance propulsion solution now with type approval for workboat installations.
The second day of the show saw a packed programme on the ZF stand, with visitors enjoying hands-on technical demos and exclusive briefings from ZF’s global experts. The focus remained on innovation, sustainability, and lifecycle support – reaffirming ZF’s position as a trusted propulsion and service partner.
“This year’s Seawork has been one of our most dynamic yet,” said Shane McCauley, Sales Director at ZF Services UK. “From announcing key partnerships to showcasing our hybrid systems and engaging with workboat designers, builders and operators it’s been a fantastic event for connecting, listening and leading on marine innovation not only in the UK but across the world.”
One of the many visitors to the stand added: “The level of technical knowledge from the ZF team and the opportunity to meet and speak directly with them really made this a standout part of the show.”
